Digital Art……….Real Art?

http://artpad.art.com/artpad/painter/ - I  created a digital art on artpad. I like the fact that you could control what you could draw. for example changing the paint colour and the thickness of the paint brush. This application also allowed me to use other images from a file or from there own gallery. I loved this task because i was able to create my own drawing with no modifications.

2. What is a vector based image and how is it different to a bitmap based image.

Images generally contain well-defined elements such as curves and shapes of various colors. These elements can either be pure graphics, western alphabets or Asian characters. In contrast, a vector image is defined mathematically using lines and curves. It’s not made up of pixels like a bitmapped image is.

Compared with bitmap; Each bitmap-based image is mapped into a grid. The size of the grid is based on the image's resolution.A bitmapped image is an image made up of pixels – for example, a JPEG photo from a digital camera or a GIF image in a web page. Bitmapped images are great for storing real-world images, such as photos, that can’t easily be mathematically defined. The main disadvantages of bitmapped images are their large file size and the fact that they can’t be scaled bits”.

Image file types

Graphical Interchange Format File
Image file that may contain up to 256 indexed colors; color palette may be a predefined set of colors or may be adapted to the colors in the image; lossless format, meaning the clearness of the image is not compromised with GIF compression.

GIFs are common format for Web graphics, especially small images and images that contain text, such as navigation buttons.

GIF images can also be animated and saved as "animated GIFs," which are often used to display basic animations on websites. They may also include transparent pixels, which allow them to blend with different color backgrounds.
