WIX 1

My wix assignment has been going great, i have done my research for 3 of my topics:
- social networking- ports- handheld devices- Bluetooth.

I only have the research to do for bluetooth then all my research would be completed

At the moment i am working on making my website pretty and filled with attractive items, most of my pges are going well as i have also found some youtube videos to add to my information. I have added many animations and am enjoying this assignment as wix is fun to use.
we have all received an extension till tuesday.

I beleive i have used my time wisely as i am not stressed about this assignment, however i'm going through this assignment calmly.
I am now going to go and add more stuff to my wix website, and go through the checklist miss has made for us incase i havn't done something. This will let me know if i have completed my assignment fully and use my extension days to add anything extra to my page which i have missed.

Handheld Computing :D

Using the sites below answer the following questions in a post on your blog.

  1. What are MID and UMPC devices? How do they differ. List atleast three examples of both types of devices & include images.
A mid is a mobile device that provides internet ( wireless) They are designed to provide entertainment, information and for personal use, rather than for corporate use.  UMPC is a smaller form/ version of a pen computer.

Differences:

The utube video was to slow and didnt load, because of the slow internet download.

  1. Of the three handheld devices - Notebook, netbook & Ipad – which one would suit your needs and why?
Ipad.
The reason why is because i really like all the feature that the ipad has to offer. The multitasking, multimedia and different applications that apple has to offer.
  1. If I was looking for a UMPC device with a screen size of 10 in or less, which would you recommend? Justify your choice.
Ipad.
THe reason why is because ipad is already small and most of it functions and applications allow for you to have a smalller scree.

  1. View some of the videos at this link http://www.umpcportal.com/ .How would you envisage students five years from now using one of these devices at school. Select any UMPC / MID device that you have researched that would meet a students needs, justify your choice.

  • Runs a "heavy" OS like Vista
  • Optimized for office-use applications like Excel, Word, etc.

MID
  • Consumer-class lifestyle device
  • Runs a 'lightweight" OS with quick startup like Linux
  • Optimized for things like media playback and web surfing

Evidence of research into multimedia presentation Tools (WIX)

  •  Versatility – text, images, video, music, files, tags,?
·         Ease of use – Wix shows you how to set up your webpages and has a help page. It has heaps of deigner friendly functions and is it really easy to use once you know the basic of how Wix functions. You are able to create a menu system and work in an ordily fashion.

Ease of use-  Nota land is easy to use and very handy, Nota land doesnt have a help funtion but the tools are really simple to use
Versatility - utube acess, picture from google and files, video, picture

Intel Atom processor

what benefits this processor offers mobile devices?
the benifts of the processr offer mobile devices a new generation of powerful and energy-efficient companion devices for accessing the internet
  • A new range of power-efficient devices with excellent performance enabled by industry-leading 45nm high-k metal gate technology and soon, 32nm silicon process technology

  • Highly integrated application processor that transforms everyday devices

  • Smaller, more compact designs with a thermal design power (TDP) ranging from less than 1 watt to 13 watts

  • Low power options in select devices enabling incredibly low idle, allowing devices to conserve energy

  • Better performance and increased system responsiveness enabled by Intel® Hyper-Threading Technology  http://www.intel.com/technology/atom/index.htm as intel describes

what is a dual core processor?

duel core processor is a CPU with two separate cores on the same die, each with its own cache.
     what is multitasking?

    what is multitasking

multitasking is a method where multiple tasks, also known as processes, share common processing resources such as a   how do the two work together?

how do the two work together

By having multiple processors on a single server, the tasks running on the server can be divided between the processors to allow the system has a whole to function faster.

    The CPU

    1.       What is the function of the CPU?

The function of the CPU is to perform operations that allow the computer to run.

    2.       What was the name of the first CPU?

The first microprocessor was the Intel 4004, introduced in 1971.

    3.       Referring to the graph on page 2 of the article, describe how the speed of CPU’s has changed.

The speed, transistors, microns, clock speed, data width and MIPS have all increase a significant amount since model 8080 to model pentium 4.
