Camera Shots

CLOSE-UP SHOT:   A close range of distance between the camera and the subject.
DISSOVLE: A transition between two shots, where one shot fades away and simultaneously another shot fades in.
FADE - A transition from a shot to black where the image gradually becomes darker is a Fade Out; or from black where the image gradually becomes brighter is a Fade In.
HIGH CAMERA ANGLE:  A camera angle which looks down on its subject making it look small, weak or unimportant.
JUMP CUT: A rapid, jerky transition from one frame to the next, either disrupting the flow of time or movement within a scene or making an abrupt transition from one scene to another.
LEVEL CAMERA ANGLE:  A camera angle which is even with the subject; it may be used as a neutral shot.
LONG SHOT:  A long range of distance between the camera and the subject, often providing a broader range of the setting.
LOW CAMERA ANGLE:  A camera angle which looks up at its subject; it makes the subject seem important and powerful.
PAN:  A steady, sweeping movement from one point in a scene to another.
POV (point of view shot): A shot which is understood to be seen from the point of view of a character within the scene.
REACTION SHOT- 1.: A shot of someone looking off screen. 2.: A reaction shot can also be a shot of someone in a conversation where they are not given a line of dialogue but are just listening to the other person speak.
TILT:  Using a camera on a tripod, the camera moves up or down to follow the action.
ZOOM:  Use of the camera lens to move closely towards the subject.

Bandwidth Computing

1).  What is Broad band?

Is a high data rate connection to the internet.

Def.com :  Of or using signals over a wide range of frequencies in high-capacity telecommunications, esp. as used for access to the Internet.

2). What units are used to measure bandwidth?

Bit rate - bits or bytes per second

3).How much faster is broadband than dial up?

The most you can get is around 56Kbps for dial up where as compared with broadband ,it allows a large amount of data to travel through a medium at the same time. In my opinion from extensive research broadbrand is much faster than dial up

4). What are the speed that broadband operates on compared with dial up?

Read the paragraph below:

Think of your connection to the internet as a tunnel that links your computer to the internet. A regular phone line can allow only a small amount of data to pass through at a time. In comparison, a broadband is a wider (or broader) tunnel, allowing a greater amount of information to pass through your connection at one time. The width of this tunnel is called "bandwidth." The more bandwidth you have, the faster you can move data.

6. Create an image in paint that illustrates how a high bandwidth connection can move more data compared to a dial up connection at a given time.
Have a look at the Australian Bureau of statistics website link below. It shows all of the internet usage in the last 3 years. Answer the following:

A] How many people subscribed to the internet in 2007? How many of these were for business use? How many for home use?

Alot of people still used dial up most if them in 2007 have converted to DSL with about less then 3 quaters using cable and mobile or fixed wire.

Have a look at the site below. It tests the speed of your internet.

1. What is the speed of the connection from your computer to the Sydney location on the map?

0.02 Very slow.

Audacity 2nd lesson

Today I was able to play around with the sound program Audacity which allows you to edit and recreate music. I am very use to the program that we are using at school because i use a similar program like Audacity at home.

The assesment task is to create a ringtone, that uses many speacial techniques that make it unique.

1st Post about Audio waves ( What is digital sound)

This is my first post for our new topic in term 2.
Question 1 - Sound movies through what medium?

Question 2- What unit is used to measure sample size?
Sample format or sample size: Essentially this is the number of digits in the digital representation of each sample. Think of the sample rate as the horizontal precision of the digital waveform, and the sample format as the vertical precision. An audio CD has a precision of 16 bits, which corresponds to about 5 decimal digits.

Question 3- what unit is used to measure sample rate?
Sample rate: The rate at which the samples are captured or played back, measured in Hertz (Hz), or samples per second. An audio CD has a sample rate of 44,100 Hz, often written as 44 KHz for short. This is also the default sample rate that Audacity uses, because audio CDs are so prevalent.
